What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine is an area of medicine that focuses on the individual and the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Naturopathic medicine and conventional medicine have many similarities in the diagnosis of disease and illness. However, naturopathic practitioners are trained in general medicine, nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, naturopathic manipulation, and hydrotherapy. The goal of these therapies is to stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Their focus is to treat the individual and discover the root cause, not just the current symptoms. Naturopathic doctors are also trained in preventative medicine to provide optimal health at every age.

What happens during a naturopathic consultation?
During a New Patient consultation, you generally spend about 75-90 minutes with the doctor going through your past medical history and discussing your current health concerns and goals. The doctor will then decide if any additional lab work, imaging, or testing is necessary.
A comprehensive and manageable treatment plan will then be provided. If lab work, imaging, or additional testing is necessary, the treatment plan will be discussed at your follow-up to review the results. Follow-up appointments range from 30-45 minutes depending on the complexity of your healthcare needs. At Olea Naturopathic Wellness we value your input and will work together with you to come up with a wellness plan that is effective and managable.
